Many theatre companies have recently voiced their solidarity with the #BlackLivesMatter movement. The next step is to commit to long-lasting and measurable change.
Below, please see a few examples of what your pledges could look like. Each pledge below is just a single example of the sort of pledges you can choose to make. It is important that your company reflects on past behavior before committing to change for the future.
We want to help you stay accountable to your statements of solidarity and your pledges.

The pledge to provide mandatory anti-racist training for all members of the organization including management, staff, board members, and artists.
The pledge to have BIPOC representation in all departments within the organization.
The pledge to appoint at least one BIPOC Artist to the senior creative team (Director, Choreographer, Music Director) of every show in our next season.
The pledge to program an entire season written by Black female playwrights.
The pledge to provide free rehearsal space to BIPOC Artists who are developing new work.
The pledge to challenge subscribers and patrons to educate themselves, get involved, and commit to their own Stand By Me Pledge.
